My Personal DIY Mission

Hey, Hey!

I have always had a great thirst for knowledge. I’m always looking to increase my knowledge in any given topic, or gain skills in new areas. In times past, I’ve always been discouraged in learning new skills. I’ve always been one of those people who pinned things on pinterest with hopes of one day doing them. Then, ultimately, they would never get done.

One day, I decided that enough was enough. I needed to prove to myself that I could do anything I put my mind to if I take the time to learn how to do it. Once I was set on that, I realized that there must be so many more people that feel the same way I felt. I knew that I probably would have started DIYing much sooner if I saw someone who was also a beginner succeeding in DIY.

It was easy for me to be discouraged by what I saw, because it seemed like all these people doing these projects had years of experience and knew everything about what they were doing. How could I possibly do the same thing without any knowledge?

Well, given the time, I know that I can use the internet to learn how to do all those things I want to do.

Speaking of which, I have a hefty list of things I want to learn/expand upon:

  • Woodworking
  • Sewing
  • Jewelry Making
  • Baking/Decorating
  • Designing
  • Essential Oils (Safety in DIY beauty projects)
  • Calligraphy
  • Bookbinding
  • Crocheting
  • Home Improvement

The list is always growing.

Now, in order to learn how to do any of these, there are various small steps I have to take. For example, in woodworking I need to do research on different tools and know what each one is good for. In Baking/Decorating, I need to learn about all the different icing tips and methods of use for different designs.

It may seem daunting, but I’m determined to have a working knowledge/skill in every area I’m interested in. I may not become fantastic at everything I try, but I want to know how to do them; I want to try my best to pursue what I want to do.

I don’t expect to know all there is to know about every topic here overnight. I know that I have to do a lot. In wanting to do everything, there is a danger of becoming a jack of all trades, and a master of none. However, I plan on working at growing my skills in all of these areas, finding out what I’m best at, and focus on mastering that.

I will keep this page updated as my journey continues into the DIY world. Check back every now and then to see how I’m doing! Of course, also follow the blog to see the individual projects as I go along.

As always, if you have any advice or thoughts to share, please get in touch with me.

Thank you!

With love and creativity, Jessi ♥
